POTM (April 1997): Tethys

April's Player of the Month was one of our newer players, Tethys. Upon our request, he sent us his biography; for the benefit of those of you who have not yet had a chance to read it, here it is in its entirety.

Tethys (TEE-this) n. [ancient Greek]
1. Greek mythology; a Titaness and sea goddess who was both sister and wife of Oceanus. Together they produced the rivers and the three thousand ocean nymphs.
2. Ninth of Saturn's known satellites: distance from Saturn: 294,660 km, diameter: 1060 km, mass: 7.55e20 kg
3. Persona in Mud2 at mud2.com

Having been dead for roughly 4500 years I was getting a little bored and restless you understand. I decided to go poke around on Earth again and see what was new. The lady reader will appreciate that I chose to take a male form this time. After bearing 3000 sea nymphs last time around I wasn't taking any chances on that happening again!

Lo and behold I came across Mud2! As it turned out many things have changed yet some are remarkably similar. In the old days when I used to hang out with Phoebe and the likes we used to have many similar adventures to those I enjoy so much in the Land of today. Of course some things were easier then. Like slaying Dragons for example. Used to be there was one on every street corner. It appears they are quite rare now, must be habitat loss or something. As for you VAX types, pah! You should have seen the equipment we had to work with!

I'm still new enough to the Land that I remember the first reset that I *tried* to play. I was blundering around when I see that "Innocent the white witch floats down to the Land on a shimmering white cloud". After some dreadful gibbering that must have had poor Innocent in stitches I finally settled down a little. All I had to do was find my way from the Rapids to the Gazebo, where I would receive a gift. I think it took me 30 minutes to get there with many hints thrown in along the way! Of course now I can do it in no more than 15 <g>.

I must credit my extremely good fortune to have arrived on the Land at a time when there are so many excellent players to learn from. I'm not going to name names because I will surely leave some out. You know who you are, I owe you all a debt of gratitude. Heck, I'm in such a good mood I'll even give a nod to the killers, you do manage to get me to concentrate.

Yikes! POTM <gulp>
